Canada Day 2012

Picture
The Township of Bonnechere Valley was a beehive of activity this Canada Day.  Falling on a Sunday this year worked out well for our 10th annual breakfast.  Because area churches have different service times, so too was the attendance at breakfast staggered.  The crowd was steady and unhurried while the numbers served were up from previous years.

This year, Rotary set up a 'used clothing area'  called "The Kenya Boutique"  Students from Opeongo High School known as the 'Huduma Group' were invited to sell the clothing with the profit going towards their March 2013 trip to Kenya to build a school.  Rotary donated the sum of $315.00 (proceeds) to this group from this sale.

Meanwhile, out at the Rotary Building, Rotarians with volunteer help, which included the Eganville Scouting troop leaders Margaret and Bill Matheson, were busy selling donated items in our annual yard sale.  In total, lose to $3000 was raised after expenses for ongoing Rotary projects both locally and internationally.
