On October 3rd we welcomed D.G. Rural and Remote Mental Healthcare Initiative      Update November 2024

In March 2022,  Eganville Rotary, in collaboration with Rob Webster Insurance Ltd. (Cooperators Insurance) Eganville and Cobden and Trinity Down Counseling of Eganville, embarked on a project to address the lack of mental health care in our rural community.

After more than 2 years
, the community and Rotary continues to support those in need of psychotherapy in our community who lack the financial resources or insurance to cover this counseling service.  In 2024  our Eganville Rotary has been actively promoting and fundraising for this project.
A new initiatives was supporting of the Tour de Bonnechere, a premier cycling event held on August 25th to promote safe cycling.  This year over 160 cyclists of all ages and competitiveness took the challenge and participated.  Solicited sponsorship and proceeds from the entry fees netted  $4330.40 for the project,  with thanks to The Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance (OVCATA)

A grant application was made to The Jason Blaine Celebrity Golf Classic organization and in September, Rotary was fortunate enough to be awarded $2000  towards the mental health project.

In October, our club was the recipient of a very generous donation from the board of trustees of Melville United Church, Eganville whose faith community had recently disbanded. These funds were designated by the donors to go towards our mental health program.

All these funds, together with other unsolicited funds, are allowing the project to go forward into 2025.  The program continues to help provide funds to those suffering mental distress in our rural remote communities of Renfrew County.
