In the fall and winter of 2021-22 our community struggled in the economic downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As always, a generous community stepped up to ensure that the most vulnerable did not go hungry. Christmas is the time of giving and Rotary stood tall. We increased our monthly donation to the Meals on Wheels program. Donations were made to the fledgling food bank in Golden Lake and a community meal was sponsored. With restrictions being lifted Rotary, was able to organize the annual Eganville Christmas Parade (cancelled for the previous 2 years due to the pandemic) during which donations of food and money were collected for the food banks in our area. In total, over $6000 was donated towards food security during the winter period. Rotary encourages you to donate to your local food banks.
